Who is behind the words in our monthly TALK features? We sat down with one of our feature contributors to find out.
Leslie Haas writes the “My Favorite Room” feature, where each month, homeowners and designers showcase a single space they’ve created. Leslie is also a well-known local model and social-media influencer.
“My job is to cover a variety of lifestyle products or subjects that might make their lives easier or more enjoyable,” she says.
Those subjects range from head-to-toe fashion, skin care, anti-aging and exercise, to local restaurant picks and advice on nutrition and its effect on fertility – a journey that she is traveling herself. Leslie and her husband Josh just moved to a mid-century home in the Paris Mountain area. She took a few minutes in the middle of moving day to talk.
What do you like best about the My Favorite Room feature?
I’m a design geek and I have such an appreciation for different styles of design. A lot of genres don’t get enough attention and maybe aren’t as well-known. What I plan to do with My Favorite Room is show off a diversity of architecture and style, along with the folks who live in these homes. The first piece I did, last month, was the dark and peaceful bedroom of a NASCAR driver. This month, we’re featuring designer Caroline Brackett’s kitchen project in her 1860s house in Pickens. I want to show all different kinds of people and the way that they live, and highlight some of the really cool architecture and design around Greenville. I think that’s fun and exciting!”

What’s the best thing about moving?
Hiring movers. It’s way less stressful. It’s always fun to get acquainted with a new neighborhood, even if you’re just moving around the corner, like us. I feel that positivity usually comes along with change. Moving into a new house means you can try new things, new decoration, create new workflows, and more.
What is YOUR favorite room?
In our new house, which is moody midcentury modern, the living room has three sides taken up by a ton of glass, along with beautiful hardwood floors, still original from the ‘60s. The sunlight and the view of the pond in the backyard are just so peaceful and it’s beautiful.
What’s your favorite place to bein springtime?
Outside. With our dog, Lando. Hiking Paris Mountain when the trees are starting to bloom and the birds are out. Everything just feels fresh, and it reminds me that we can start a new season at any point in our lives.
