Local real estate investor buys in RiverGate | Development

Veteran Nashville-based real estate investor Rusty Dunn has paid $4.1 million for a RiverGate-area property once home to a Bob Williams Lincoln Mercury dealership.

The address of the 4.9-acre property, home to used-vehicle dealership Freedom USA Auto Sales, is 1809 Gallatin Pike N. The seller was SMD Properties LLC, which paid $3.25 million for the property in mid-2019, according to Metro records.

Dunn garnered local headlines twice in September and October 2019 when he sold a sliver lot on Broadway for $3 million to Brentwood-based GBT Realty (which is undertaking its ONE22ONE mixed-use tower on the site) and a separate property for $6.3 million in the North Gulch to New York-based Flank, which is seeking a Marriott boutique hotel Edition on the site.

Dunn said he plans to eventually replace Freedom USA Auto Sales with a new-vehicle dealership.

Will Dunn, an associate broker with the local office of CBRE, represented Dunn. The Post was unable to determine if the seller used a broker.

Rusty Dunn, who operated Earl Dunn Pontiac-Buick-GMC Truck for 35 years in the RiverGate area, told the Post he remains bullish on Northeast Davidson County real estate, retail and population growth.

“The Madison and RiverGate areas continue to generate momentum,” Dunn said.

Dunn also once owned a former Mazda dealership property at Broadway and 12th Avenue — now home to a high-rise residential building anchored by a Whole Foods grocery.

Bob Williams Lincoln Mercury is no longer operational.
