COLONIAL HEIGHTS – Don’t miss your opportunity to speak directly with experts at the Tri Cities Home and Garden Show today.
The Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce is hosting its inaugural event until 8:00 p.m. this evening at the former Sears building at Southpark Mall.
“We just bought a house a year ago, and we’re expanding,” said Derrick Davis of Dinwiddie. “We saw it online and said let’s go to this Home Show to get some ideas.”
Attendees can get in for free to visit wall-to-wall displays and exhibits, register for prizes, gather give-a-ways in their complimentary souvenir shopping bag, purchase some plants from the Colonial Heights / Petersburg SPCA, and more.
“It’s an awesome show, and I think it’s wonderful for Petersburg,” said Norah’s Boutique owner Sharon Scott. “I hope it’s even bigger next year.”
Food trucks are on sight including Petersburg’s own Beaunuts Buttermilk Donuts. And, to cool you off on this sweltering day, Haley’s Honey Meadery will be selling non-alcoholic wine slushies.

At 2:00, Artist Henry Kidd with Side Street Gallery and Gifts will be teaching kids of all ages how to draw Disney characters.
Old Towne Studio 7 owner Denise Tipton and her 15-year-old assistant Kylie Johnson helped children earlier in the morning with Home Depot DYI battleship, clock, and wind chimes projects.
Guest speakers this afternoon include Regenesis – Recovery at 3:00, Ray Ferguson owner of Roof Maxx and Escape Old Towne at 4:00, and Scott Whittle – First Time Buyers Q&A at 5:00 pm.
“We have a great group of volunteers and vendors that are here and want to help you,” said Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce Executive Director John Brandt.
Brandt pointed out on Facebook live that two Petersburg businesses are giving away prizes: Roof Maxx – $100 Home Depot gift card and People’s Advantage Federal Credit Union $100 Ace Hardware gift card.
“We are already planning the next one which will take place in March,” shared Brandt. “We’re hoping it will take place at the Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights, and we’re going to make it bigger and better.”
According to Brandt, CDC has lifted the mask restriction so masks are optional for attendees. Masks will be available for those who need one, and hand sanitizer stations will be at the event.
“We’re keeping your safety at bay, ” said Brandt. “We want you to socially distance and be able to have a great time and do it safely.”
The Colonial Heights Fire, EMS, and Emergency are present demonstrating how to properly use a fire extinguisher.
“We’re excited that we have our own Home and Garden show,” said Judy Cuenin of Colonial Heights. “You know…it’s always been in Richmond.”
The two-day event held at 114 Southpark Circle in Colonial Heights ends at 8:00 p.m. tonight. Check out the food menu on the show’s website.
If you would like to become a future sponsor or vendor for this event, please contact John Brandt at 804-931-5419 or Ray Ferguson at 804-621-5120.
